Should we believe him?
Yes, we believe that the slow update is due to technical reasons and it is similar to Panda 4.1 – we’d like to know what is so technical about it and should we direct our focus more on the on-page, off-page or both? Well if you look at the article MarketingLand published on Oct. 21, 2014 about Google Panda 4.1 Update.
Marketing Land stated the following about Panda 4.1 update:
- Panda targets “thin” content on sites, which often equates to a general lack of content
- Panda targets duplicate content, usually when a site has a large volume of it
- Panda targets machine-generated content (what marketers often refer to as “spun content”)
- Google said it would no longer be announcing Panda iterations, as it would be incorporated into the regular indexing process
- Google said it was working on a “softer” Panda that would help small websites and businesses do better in the Google search results
If the Panda 4.2 update is similar to the 4.1 but SLOWER? That tells me that they will be carefully scanning the search results for low quality spammy type of websites. Google is pretty much saying, don’t be lazy and make sure you use quality content!
Should we be concerned?
If you are an SEO Company or if you are using SEO to drive traffic to your website, then absolutely; you should be 100% concerned with this update. This can either help or hurt your business and your website depending on the SEO Services / Strategy you’ve used since the last Panda update, which was around 10 months ago.
