Tired of waking up at 6 a.m., driving 30 minutes to work, and doing the 9 to 5 grind every single day? What about working 40+ hours a week only to barely cover your bills and squeak by?
Guess what – You don’t have to live this way.
I can tell you from personal experience because I have been in your shoes. 10 years ago I discovered the power of the internet and knew that it was where I had to start investing my time and money.
Fast forward to now and I have a few online businesses I have also dabbled in many things to test out and try to make money online.
Many of the make money from home opportunities listed below are things I have tried or know other marketers who have used to successfully make money online.
Choosing A Way To Make Money On The Internet
The truth is, every time you go online to shop, check your social media, and do anything else, someone who was once in your shoes is making money from you. You don’t even have to buy anything. You just have to, well, use the internet.
In fact, millions of people are making real money on the internet each and every day, and they’re not all selling on Amazon. Thanks to the world wide web, there are endless ways to make money in your PJs and experience the freedom of living life on your terms.
Sure, a paycheck is “guaranteed” income, but what happens if the company you work for suddenly closes up shop (ie: Corona Virus)? Even if your job is stable, why limit your income and just get by?
Maybe you have an itch or full determination to be your own boss or maybe you just want to earn extra cash from an online side hustle. Either way, it can be accomplished but you definitely have to be willing to put in some work.
Many of these online clickbait ads that promise that you can push a button and “POOF” your laptop turns into an ATM are clearly full of fluff and not realistic.
Again, I have been in this industry long enough to tell you with complete transparency that even to make an extra $100 pr month will require some effort and maybe even some upfront cost depending on what you decide to get into especially in the beginning.
Below you will learn some short-term quick cash ideas such as selling your clutter or extra no longer wanted goods but in all honestly that is just a good way to raise extra money in the short term.
If you want to really make a real online business out of one of the ideas I mention below then I suggest picking something that you feel more connected with as far as the concept goes and something that you can continue to invest in and grow long term.
For example, I am invested in building a Youtube channel, I also have a few niche blogs along with a few clients that pay for digital SEO services. These are real online money making businesses. They will require commitment but can become somewhat passive and continue to have financial growth.
Stats Don’t Lie
If you’re looking to make money on the internet, you’re not alone. According to a study done by Buffer, 99 percent of people would prefer to work remotely at home or anywhere else right from their laptop.
Many are taking the leap of faith and succeeding. In fact, right now, there are nearly 60 million Americans making money on the internet. Some are millionaire entrepreneurs and others are freelancing from home as part of the gig economy.
Needless to say, learning how to make money on the internet is easier than ever before.
Is Making Money Online Easy?
Yes and no. It all depends on you and your goals.
It’s super simple to make an extra $100 online. It’s even pretty easy to make an extra $100 in a month.
However, if your goal is to make a consistent game-changing income and quit your day job, it will require a bit more hard work and dedication. It all comes down to your work ethic and which route you choose to make money online.
Whether you want to become the next Gordon Gecko or simply earn a little extra spending cash, here are 25 ways to make money on the internet in 2021 and beyond.
The 25 Best Make Money Online Opportunities:
1. BECOME A FREELANCER
One of the easiest ways to begin making money online is to take what you currently do for your employer but do it for yourself by finding clients online.
Whether you’re a teacher, writer, photographer, graphic designer, web developer, administrative assistant, or so on, you can find clients online looking to pay you for those same skills. This is freelancing.
There are dozens and dozens of websites where you can go to find freelance jobs. In addition to general freelance sites like Upwork, Fiverr, Guru, Freelancer, and People Per Hour, there are plenty of specific online job boards too. The opportunities are endless.
If you have skills, you can sell those skills, develop your portfolio, command your own price, and experience the freedom of the digital age.
Did you know top copywriters earn $1,000’s per project? How about the fact that you can earn $15-$25 an hour simply teaching English online? Not too shabby, right?
2. SELL YOUR CLUTTER FOR CASH & FLIPPING
If you’re desperate for some fast cash, selling some of your stuff online is an option worth considering. Think of it as a virtual yard sale, except there’s no need to set up shop in your garage and haggle over prices with the entire neighborhood.
However, if you’re trying to sell your clutter for cash, be smart about it. It’s 2021, so no one is going to buy CDs, DVDs, books, etc. If you want to make some good money quickly, focus on more valuable items like phones, laptops, designer handbags, TVs, and furniture.
That said, you really can sell anything you want online. From Craigslist to Facebook groups and even eBay, there are endless places to sell just about anything to buyers from around the world. Just make sure to consider the shipping costs.
Regardless of which platforms you list your stuff on, put in the effort to take great pictures of the items and add a white background for a nice clean look.
If you sell your stuff online fast and have a knack for it, you can launch your own e-commerce store and become a full-fledged online entrepreneur.
Another thing to consider is garage sale hauling in order to keep this business concept alive. You will need to drive to local garage sales, negotiate deals and get bargains on used items that you can then go and flip online and earn cash.
Believe it or not, I have heard of online entrepreneurs flipping couches and making thousands of dollars per month doing so. How about other furniture?
Maybe, start refinishing old unwanted furniture and posting on Etsy and Facebook Marketplace. There is always someone who will find a piece of intact furniture useful.
3. NICHE BLOGGING
Blogging is a time-tested way to make money online. The most successful bloggers focus on a niche and building real authority.
I personally blog and I believe it is one of the best pieces of digital real estate to invest in right next to starting a YouTube channel. Using SEO is a great way to generate targeted traffic to your blog and content and earn money through affiliate commissions, ad revenue, and even your own products.
Read my full review on Authority Hacker Pro which is an incredible step-by-step training on building an authority blog from start to finish.
The key is to build a loyal following. You can do just that by blogging about something specific you’re passionate about, such as drones, cars, dogs, traveling, and so on.
Once you’ve zeroed in on a niche, you can create your blog using any number of blogging platforms. Not only is there plenty to choose from, but aside from a few small one-off costs, many are free.
Most bloggers use WordPress, but you can also use Shopify which is a more eCommerce-oriented solution. Simply remove the checkout feature to keep from getting charged while building out the site.
Once the site is built, you can monetize it in several ways. For example, you can be an affiliate and sell products directly to your readers for a commission via affiliate links, place Google AdSense or Taboola ads throughout your blog, write sponsored posts for specific brands, or sell physical or digital products.
It may seem a bit old-fashioned, but if you can create a popular blog with a loyal niche audience, you can replace your current paycheck and then some.
4. RANK AND RENT WEBSITES
The rank and rent online business opportunity is an incredible business to start. I have personally been successful at structuring deals with local business owners to help grow their businesses.
I recommend if you decide to start a local lead generation business you go with the rank and rent model and charge a flat fee monthly deal.
The method in a nutshell is first you pick a good rank and rent niche then you build a simple optimized local website, start SEO implementation, generate calls and then find a business owner that wants these leads.
You could also jump-start the rank and rent process with a pre-selling structure if you decide to implement paid ads strategy to generate inbound leads right from the start.
5. SELL YOUR BRAND PRIVATE LABEL ON AMAZON FBA
If you want to invest more time, effort, and money to possibly make life-changing money online with Amazon, you can create your own brand and sell private label products via the platform’s FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) program.
It may seem complicated and out of your scope, but it’s actually not that hard to do. Plus, there are a ton of tools available to help ensure your success.
First, you have to decide on the type of private label products you want to sell. From dog toys and glassware to remote control cars and virtually anything else, you name it and there is a factory in China that makes it.
When just starting out, the best products to target are small, lightweight, nonseasonal, uncomplicated, and unregulated. After you’ve done your market research and pinpointed a product idea, just head on over to Alibaba to find a manufacturer.
Then, finalize your packaging and logo with your own brand name, sign up for Amazon FBA to take care of product fulfillment, and create and optimize your Amazon listing. It really is easier than it seems, and there are endless resources to help you out.
Amazon is definitely an exploding platform and a great place to sell your own branded products but it will cost an upfront cost and it’s important to understand all the ins and outs.
I highly recommend you read my other blog post about Matt’s Amazon Zero To Brand training.
6. START A YOUTUBE CHANNEL
YouTube is an obvious choice for making money online. Anyone can do it. In fact, the highest-grossing YouTuber is in elementary school. He made $20+ million last year alone by simply reviewing toys.
For YouTube’s success, it’s best to focus on a specific niche to build a loyal audience. You can stream video games, teach skills, review products, wear a GoPro to record FPV videos of your whitewater kayaking adventures, or do anything else you can carve out an audience in.
The key is to either educate or entertain. You can optimize keywords for YouTube searches and once you reach 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours, you can monetize your channel and begin displaying ADs and making money with YouTube Ad Revenue.
I am personally building and investing in Youtube content and I can honestly say it is by far one of the best platforms to invest your time and effort into. A great PRO for this online business idea is that it does not require any upfront cost of money but it does require your time.
Many people are looking for a low-cost upfront starter business and this is a perfect concept. Give yourself 12 months and produce 1 video per week over the course of that year. It is very important that your videos are made with valuable information or very entertaining events.
I would also say the optimization of your overall channel and individual videos produced around keywords that can get viewers onto your channel is the absolute key.
I see so many YouTubers stuck with the same subscriber count because they are not doing the correct research, good optimization, good catchy thumbnails, and absolute consistency around one niche topic.
7. AFFILIATE MARKETING
Affiliate marketing has been and will always be one of the top ways to make a living online. Although it’s gone up and down a little in popularity over the years, it’s proven to be a doable option for making consistent online income.
Affiliate marketing is simply the selling of other people’s products for a commission of the sale. From physical products like hot tubs and hair gel to digital products like software and hosting, you can promote whatever and however many products you want.
Physical products are often easier to sell, but the commissions tend to be lower at anywhere from 3-12 percent. Selling digital products can take some extra marketing savvy, but the rewards are usually better with commissions of up to 50 percent or more.
There are several ways to market the products you sell in your chosen niche. You can create a blog, send out email blasts to a subscriber list, advertise on Facebook or Instagram, join an ad network, create YouTube videos like those mentioned above, and just about anything else that allows you to share a link.
I personally believe a niche blog coupled with a Youtube channel is an incredible way to start affiliate marketing. This will require the skill of SEO and also take some time but can be well worth it a year or two later. Check out my number 3 choice above which is starting a niche blog and my resources so you can see some of the success people are having with this business concept.

8. SELL LOCAL MARKETING SERVICES
If you know anything about web design, SEO, and online marketing in general, you can sell your services to local businesses for some serious cash. In fact, just one or two local clients can net you $5,000 a month or more.
Even today, there are some local businesses without a website or online presence. Many of the ones that do know nothing about online marketing and could use some help too.
When approached the right way, there are plenty of opportunities to forge relationships with these local businesses and turn them into your paying clients. Many of them need your help. You just have to show them why.
Joining local business groups, local Facebook groups, and simply just cold outreaching on social media is a few ways you can get a conversation going about how you can help a local business out with their marketing.
Local SEO in my opinion is one of the most powerful skill sets to have and many people do not know how to do this correctly. Take a quick SEO Course and learn the power of search engine optimization so you can sell this as a service.
The two biggest PROS about this online money-making business are that you can start right away and with no money upfront at all. You can literally start selling your services and bring in money as soon as possible. I know this from experience.
I remember when I was working a 9-5 job and in my spare time I learned how to do local SEO. One day at work my brother who was working with me at the time opened a conversation with a local business next door to where we were working about how I can help them with getting more leads and ranking on Google.
That day was about 8 years ago and I turned that guy into $300 per month plus a $1000 upfront fee to re-design and optimize his website. He is still a client today except he pays $600 per month for a small business SEO package. It is all about starting conversations about what you do.
9. PRINT ON DEMAND
Print-on-demand is similar to drop shipping in that the supplier houses the inventory, packages it, and ships it to your customers for you. When an order is placed, you simply press a button to provide your supplier with the order details.
Unlike dropshipping, print-on-demand only involves the sale of custom-printed items like t-shirts, hats, hoodies, bags, coffee mugs, and the like.
You simply come up with the designs, but the actual printing of the products is done by Printful, Zazzle, TeeSpring, Printify, or whatever print-on-demand company you’re working with.
That said, to run a successful print-on-demand business, you’ll need much more than graphic design skills. It takes strong customer service and marketing skills as well.
10. CREATE AN ONLINE COURSE
Another popular and profitable way to make money on the internet is to share your knowledge with others. If you’re highly skilled in an area or an expert on a particular subject, you can make money from your knowledge by creating and selling courses online.
If you know what you’re talking about, creating a course isn’t that difficult. You can create a slideshow with audio, use screenshots, record a video, or a combination of all three.
I would recommend making your training the best it can be. Including personal case studies and over the shoulder video training modules will not only help your students on another level but also make your course that much better and more valuable.
Also, creating a private Facebook group for your students to engage, help, and motivate each other is a great way to have a mini tribe that is like-minded and on the same mission.
After creating your online course, you need to choose a platform to sell it. Udemy is a popular option for many online course creators. However, you can also sell your courses via forums, Facebook groups, or your own blog or website.
11. BECOME AN INSTAGRAM INFLUENCER
Cultivating your own personal brand is one of the best ways to make money on the internet in 2021. There’s no better place to do that than Instagram.
Some stars, like Kylie Jenner, make $1 million or more for each sponsored Instagram post. That’s insane!
While the biggest Instagram influencers may all seem like pop singers, reality stars, and athletes, there are thousands of other influencers making a handsome income from their Instagram audience.
There are several ways to make money as an influencer. For instance, you can sell products through your own online store, charge to publish sponsored posts, sell your photos, become a brand ambassador, and more.
There are Instagram influencers making 6 figures per year with only about 50-100k subscribers. Now, keep in mind these are real active followers that show engagement in the content.
When big brands see this they have no problem paying an influencer who caters to a certain demographic around specific topics that align with their company and products. Just like starting a Youtube channel, you need to create consistent content. Another platform I did not mention on this list but is also another influencer platform on the rise is TikTok.
12. START A PODCAST
Podcasts have become a top online side hustle. Making money with a podcast is similar to making money with a blog. You start by finding a niche you can create a loyal following in.
Once you gain a large, loyal audience, which might take a while, advertisers will start wanting to pay you to mention their products. Just be prepared for the long haul, because it can take years to get to this level.
The good news is you can also make money with a podcast in other ways, such as affiliate marketing or selling online courses, coaching, or services.
You can easily start a PodCast on a budget and really focus on the quality of the topics you talk about and do not worry so much about the podcast equipment you think you need.
Many people overthink this and paralyze themselves from starting because they believe you need fancy podcast mics and recording software which is not true.
13. WHOLESALING REAL ESTATE
Most people think of flipping when the topic of making money with real estate arises. However, wholesaling allows you to make a nice income with zero investment.
Basically, being a real estate wholesaler involves negotiating and striking a deal with the property’s seller and then assigning the contract over to a real estate investor prior to closing. In most cases, you’ll pay a fee for your efforts.
While wholesaling doesn’t sound all that difficult, it definitely isn’t easy. It also involves risk, but wholesaling can be quite profitable and a solid way of breaking into the real estate game.
Between Craigslist, new MLS listings, and pounding the pavement, there are plenty of deals to be found in almost any area.
14. PUBLISH AN EBOOK
Writing and selling an ebook is similar to making an online course. Once again, if you have a hobby or expertise in a particular area, writing about it for cash probably won’t be too difficult.
The question is: how do you sell it? You can always use Amazon Kindle Publishing (KDP). They make publishing an ebook simple and have a huge reach to help you sell copies, but they charge a commission for every sale.
To make money selling ebooks online, you can use keywords targeting popular Amazon searches, use paid listings, do giveaways to rank higher, and so on.
While you likely won’t make a killing, it’s definitely possible to sell some copies for some extra cash.
This is also a great addition to add on if you have a blog and if you are leveraging building an email list to a targeted audience.
15. AMAZON RETAIL ARBITRAGE
Amazon is bigger than ever and ripe with opportunity. Sure, you can brand and sell your own products, but one of the most beginner-friendly ways to sell on Amazon is through retail arbitrage.
Amazon retail arbitrage is so easy a 10-year-old can do it. You simply source a product from a retailer, like Big Lots, and then list and sell the item on Amazon for a higher price than you paid.
For example, if you find a box of crayons at Walmart marked down from $12 to $6 during a back-to-school sale, you can turn around and sell them on Amazon for $10-$12 and make a nice ROI on the sale.
You can also source discounted items and profitable products online by looking through the sale and clearance pages of online retailers. There are even software tools that can do the work of finding the items for you.
Despite being easy and requiring little to no startup cash, Amazon retail arbitrage can be time consuming. However, if you’re consistent, it can also be well worth the effort you put in.

16. RENT YOUR EXTRA SPACE ON AIRBNB OR VRBO
This one’s a little different, but the skyrocketing popularity of Airbnb and VRBO in recent years has made the vacation rental industry a more than viable solution for many looking to make money online.
If you have a spare room, guest apartment, or even an entire house you’re able to rent out, you can earn a nice chunk of change. Many even do it full-time, earning a hefty income while building their property portfolios and generating long-term wealth.
Both Airbnb and VRBO make listing your short-term rental easy. Airbnb even handles the transaction and everything, but this convenience comes with a 3 percent fee.
17. DROPSHIPPING
Like affiliate marketing, dropshipping is one of the more popular and time-tested methods of making money online. There are success stories everywhere of entrepreneurs making six figures in a couple of months or millions off of a single product, s there’s definitely proof that it works.
While I’ve talked about it a little above, dropshipping is when you sell products to customers without actually having to keep an inventory and package and ship them. The supplier houses the products and ships them to your customers for you.
Today, thanks to sites like Oberlo, you can access millions of products, add them to your online store, and reap the benefits of the eCommerce explosion with just half of the work.
However, to make money with dropshipping, you need to drive targeted traffic to your online shop via Facebook ads, SEO, YouTube, paying Instagram influencers, or whatever other marketing methods you choose to use.
18. MAKE MONEY FILLING OUT ONLINE SURVEYS
You won’t get rich filling out online surveys, but you can make some extra spending cash for just a little bit of your time. Many short surveys will only earn you a buck or two, but lengthier ones can payout much more.
In large part, it all comes down to the survey company or companies you work with. One of the most popular is Swagbucks.
With Swagbucks, you can earn points for taking surveys and redeem those points for cash back or gift cards for more than 1,500 retailers. You simply shop through the Swagbucks portal, watch videos, fill out surveys, and so on.
19. FLIP ON EBAY
This online money-making method is almost as old as the internet itself. However, despite seeming old school, but it’s a great place to flip items for extra cash.
You can sell up to 50 items a month on eBay with a free account. To sell more, you’ll have to sign up for a subscription starting at $4.95 a month. The more you pay, the lower your fees and the higher your selling cap.
If you have access to just about anything at or below wholesale costs, eBay is a great place to make sales and dip your toes into e-commerce. It is all about finding good products that you can get for a cheaper price.
The skill is being able to identify a product that is HOT on eBay and that is generating multiple daily sales. Then being able to find a manufacturer who can get that product in bulk for a low wholesale price. This will create a demand and a profit margin.
I will say from experience that this concept does take a lot more work than it sounds. Taking pictures, packaging, labeling, and dropping off each package to ship out and etc…
20. EARN CASH BACK FOR ONLINE SHOPPING
Almost everyone these days shops online. Some do it for convenience, and some do it to save money. Not only are there coupon sites like Groupon and Slickdeals to help you save money on things you already plan on buying, but there are cash-back sites as well.
Sites like Rakuten, Ebates, Ibotta, and BeFrugal will actually deposit money into your account whenever you purchase certain items.
From grocery stores to department stores, you can earn cash back by shopping for virtually anything at thousands of online retailers. It’s basically free online money.
21. CASH-BACK CREDIT CARDS
Applying for a cash-back credit card online is another convenient way to make money back on purchases you were going to already make.
Depending on your credit, there are several cash-back credit cards to choose from. Most offer 1-2 percent cash back, but some, like the Discover it® Cash Back card, allow you to earn up to 5 percent.
If you make your purchases using the card and pay it off each month, the cash-back earnings can really add up.
Some other cash-back credit cards worth checking out include the Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa card and the Bank of America Cash Rewards card, both of which offer 1-3 percent cash back for purchases in a variety of product categories.
22. LEARN DAY TRADING
A lot of people are scared of the stock market and are afraid to purchase a few buy-and-hold shares for a long-term investment, much less day trade.
However, with commission-free trades the norm these days and a treasure chest of tools and resources out there for your disposal, trading stocks is easier than ever before. You don’t even need much know-how.
Brokers like E*Trade, TD Ameritrade, and Ally all offer commission-free trades, low account minimums, and a bevy of tools to support traders of all experience levels.

23. SELL PICTURES YOU TAKE ONLINE
Whether snapping photos is just a hobby or you fancy yourself a serious photographer, there are several ways to make money from your photos online.
For example, you can sell your photos on stock photography sites and online platforms like Alamy, iStock Photo, and Shutterstock. You can also create your own website and sell your photos there via the power of social media marketing.
If you’re a professional photographer in search of clients, websites like Scoopshot can help. Plus, there’s Foap, which is an app that allows you to monetize the photos you take on your phone.
With all of these options and then some, it’s pretty easy to make money on the internet with the pictures you take.
24. TRADE STOCKS WITH WEBULL

25. SELL DIGITAL STICKERS ON ETSY
If you’re more inclined to use the right side of your brain than the left, then creating and selling digital stickers on Etsy might be right up your alley.
Since its launch 15 years ago, Etsy has blossomed into the go-to marketplace for artists, designers, and makers of unique, handcrafted goods.
Believe it or not, however, the best-selling items on Etsy aren’t tapestries or picture frames – they’re stickers. Yep, stickers. People on Etsy are literally sticker-crazy!
So, if you have graphic design skills, you can set up a shop on Etsy selling your sticker creations for next to no startup.
Do You Need To Buy A Course To Make Money Online
An online course can certainly help you make money online, but only if it’s the right course and only if you commit. You see, not all online courses are created equal, and buying a course is just the first step.
Even if it’s the best course in the world, attaining the same results as the ones bragged about in the course testimonials will be impossible if you don’t use what you’ve learned and put in the work.
It takes dedication, engagement, and hard work to begin reaping a course’s rewards and making money online. This is what separates the achievers from the online course collectors.
Too many people go through a cycle of buying one online course after another. Instead of sticking to one until they see results, they go through courses like a teenager does zit cream.
So, before you invest in an online course teaching you how to make money online, ask yourself a few questions.
First, what makes you want to purchase this particular course? Is the information covered in other courses? Is it readily available for free? Is it just going to be another space taker on your hard drive?
If you can answer “no” to these questions, then you’re ready to move on to the next question –
How much does it really cost?
Some courses advertise one price but make you invest in other tools or courses, which can add up to the final bill.
Even if the course creators don’t use this popular up-selling sales tactic, a course will cost you time. In fact, if you want to succeed, you should treat an online course like any other you would take if you were enrolled in school.
If you don’t have the time to dedicate to the course, then don’t buy it. You need to be completely ready to immerse yourself into learning and implementing the knowledge you absorb from the training in courses.
The last question to ask is whether or not there is a course community available for help and to bounce ideas around. Courses with these active communities tend to create the best results.
So, the answer is no, you don’t need to buy a course to make money online.
Sure, investing in yourself is always a good thing and some courses are fantastic, but unless you have a compelling reason and the drive to follow through with the course, it will become nothing but another dust collector in your course collection.
Final Thoughts
It’s easier than ever to make money online. As you can see, there are several opportunities to earn some extra cash and just as many to launch an internet empire. It all depends on you.
What are your goals? Do you love your job and just want to earn some money with an online side hustle, or are you looking to ditch your 9 to 5 and experience the freedom that comes with living life on your terms?
Whatever you want, you can achieve it online. Millions are, so why not you?
All it takes is the right knowledge, a little technical know-how, and the dedication to succeed. It’s as simple as that.
So, whether you’re into Instagram, coding, photography, SEO, or want to strike it big in e-commerce, there’s an online money-making method for you.
The ball’s in your court. Why not take a shot?
